

Karen Marie Thouvenot, 72, of Lexington, SC, passed away on April 20, 2026, after an extended illness. Karen was born on May 28, 1953, in Belleville, Illinois. She was the daughter of the late Melvern and Delores Thouvenot.
Karen is survived by her sister, Beverly Moore of Irmo, SC, and brother, Verlan James (Jim) Thouvenot (Leigh) of Evans, Georgia. She is also survived by her precious nieces and nephew, Kimberly Moore Luthren (Taylor), Kelly Moore DuBose (Kyle), Loren Thouvenot Murphy (Jim), and Jeffrey James Thouvenot (Buffy), and great nieces and nephews, to whom she was affectionately known as “YaYa”. This role gave Karen much joy over the years, and they loved her dearly. She will also be missed by cousins located in Georgia, Illinois, and Missouri.
Karen grew up in Cayce, SC, graduating from Airport High School, where she was a cheerleader. Karen loved spending time with family and enjoyed making and designing jewelry. She loved her two dogs, BJ and Bandit, who provided Karen with much love and companionship for many years.
Karen received a paralegal certificate from Midlands Technical College and retired from the Nexsen Pruet Law Firm.
The family would like to thank the staff at Lexington Extended Care for their care and support during Karen’s illness.
A liturgy service will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Basilica of Saint Peter, 1529 Assembly Street, Columbia, SC. The family will greet guests before and after the service.
Memorials may be made in Karen’s memory to the charity of your choice.
