Mr. Harmon graduated from Lexington High School. He served in the U.S. Navy where he received both the Good Conduct and National Defense Service medals. After the Navy, he worked for Orkin Exterminating Company, Clemson Extension, and then retired from Terminex. Mr. Harmon was a member of Yemassee Baptist Church where he served on the Building and Grounds Committee. He loved the outdoors.
He is survived by his son, Steve A. Harmon (Deborah); daughter, Sandra H. Strong (William); grandchildren, Michael A. Harmon (Tammy), Gregory A. Harmon (Erin), Melissa Lowther (Dow), Lee Strong, Lacey Berry (Gary), Curtis Strong (Brenda); 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ina Mae Kyzer, Magelene Kyzer, Caffie Stricklin (Skip), Linda Sharpe, Pamela Brand (Steven); brothers, Johnnie Ray Harmon (Portia) and Robert Harmon, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Lou Ellen Frye, Annie Ruth Greene and Faye Kyzer.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 with interment to follow in Lexington Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Yemassee Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 68, Yemassee, SC 29945.
