Nick died Friday, August 26, 2011. He was the son of Kim (Kamal) and Dianne BouFawaz, and the brother of Nadia BouFawaz. In addition to his parents and sister, he is survived by his cousins and their parents, Hank and Eric Weed (sons of Uncle Merle and Aunt Peggy), David, Nathan, and Joanna Shealy (children of Uncle Tommy and Aunt Sandy), Misty and Christy Shealy (children of Uncle Andy and Aunt Candy), Vanessa and Patrice Kamary (children of Uncle Tony and Aunt Jacky), Edwin and Karen Nasr (children of Uncle Assaad and Aunt Marlene), and Chloe and Audrey Najim (children of Uncle Samir and Aunt Nada). He is also survived by his grandmother, Teta Nadia BouFawaz, who helped raise him from birth. He was predeceased by his grandfather, Elias BouFawaz, and his grandparents, George and Ellie Shealy.
After graduating from Dutch Fork High School, Nick attended the Citadel for two and a half years. He loved wakeboarding with his buddy Ryan Burns, and hanging out with his many friends. His vivacious personality and engaging manner made him irresistible to all he met. Even standing in line for an event turned inevitably into a social activity. Within only minutes he would know everyone’s names and much of their life stories.
Nick was well-loved by family and friends. Though lost to sight, he will remain forever in our hearts. We will all remember this remarkable young man, and look forward to reuniting with him in our eternal home. On his grandfather, Elias’ tombstone is the statement “Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.” It is this certainty that will comfort us in the days ahead.
Oh, and by the way Nick. . . your hair looks great, son. Love you. Mom and Dad.
