Polly was born in Charleston, SC, to Rev. John Kirkwood Hendricks and Margaret Lewis Hendricks. She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Josh Driggers of West Columbia; daughter, Lindsey Woolley (Tyler) of Lexington; sister, Nancy Brody of Mooresville, NC; sister, Kim Truesdale (Kent) of Angier, NC; brother, Artie Hendricks (Valerie) of Raleigh, NC; and her many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother John Kirkwood Hendricks, Jr., and niece, Erica Truesdale Gregory.
Polly moved many times as the child of a United Methodist Minister, but that didn’t stop her from making friends everywhere she called home. Nothing mattered more to her than moments filled with laughter shared with loved ones. Some of her favorite memories include a family reunion on Edisto Island, her daughter’s wedding, and karaoke after shifts at Ashley’s.
She was a dedicated provider for her children, bringing a strong work ethic to every job she had throughout her life. She retired from an 18 year career at MUSC to move to Angier, NC, to help take care of her parents. Despite health challenges in the last several years, she still enjoyed spending time with her children, tending to her many plants, studying her Bible, listening to music, and loving on her beloved granddog, Mozie.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 5, at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home (503 N. Lake Dr., Lexington, SC 29072). The family will receive friends there immediately after the service. There will be a private burial of her cremains at Magnolia Cemetery in Charleston at a later date.
Polly’s favorite place in the world was Folly Beach.
