LEXINGTON – Funeral services for Richard Edward Goodman, 68, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Boiling Springs United Methodist Church with interment in Woodridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at the church.
Richard was born November 12, 1947 in Cokesbury, SC, later moving to Lexington. He was a son of the late Wallace and Frances Goodman. He spoke often of his humble beginnings where he enjoyed tormenting his younger brother and playing football with his classmates. As he grew older and purchased the Ware Shoals Inn, he enjoyed weekly card games with many friends. Richard knew he was blessed with close family and friends. Heaven received a Hallelujah Angel on Wednesday, December 23, 2015, just in time for our Lord’s birthday. Richard was an avid golfer, huge sports fan, enjoyed tinkering in his wood shop, and working in his yard. Extremely proud of his family, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle.
Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 25 years, Betsy P. Goodman; daughters, Rhonda Willis (James) Lynn Sherfield (Scotty); grandchildren, Autumn Willis, Sumer and Kamryn Sherfield; sisters, Eva Richey, Emma Lee Davenport; brothers, William Goodman, Ray Goodman and many nieces and nephews.
Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
