Sammy Gibbons left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Kind and selfless, yet bold, brave and honest, you always knew where you stood with him. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, hard work and true grit that touched everyone around him.
Ambition, diligence and 40+ years in carpentry and construction, gave Sammy the ability to create and build, remodel or repair anything.
His knowledge, skill, talent and craftsmanship unmatched.
Sammy’s love for hunting and being outdoors often kept him in a deer stand, on a sandbar or in the yard working and garden.
Pretty much a Jack of all Trades with a passion for guns, boats, motorcycles and all things fast, he was almost always working on, rebuilding, or tearing something apart. No matter the job, anyone who called on him to do work knew it would be done right.
Sammy loved being in his shop. Evenings, weekends, anytime he had the chance, he could be found working on his latest project, drinking cold beer or Crown with his lifelong best friend, Jimmy Dillon.
Determined and fearless, stubborn, hardheaded and temperamental, Sammy leaves countless memories in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Sammy’s life will forever be a true testament of resilience, strength and perseverance.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Dana; his son, Sam Gibbons IV (Leila); grandchildren, Scarlett and Ari; sisters, Gale Gibbons Reynolds and Karen Gibbons; as well as many nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, I ask that you take a moment to hug your spouse, parent, child, family and friends. Time waits for no one and tomorrow is never promised.
A visitation will be held from 6 pm – 8 pm on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Caughman Harman Funeral Home – Lexington Chapel, 503 North Lake Drive, Lexington, SC 29072.
