Vermelle married Lloyd Taylor in 1943 and, several years into their marriage, they moved to Monroeville, PA. She enjoyed being a homemaker and serving in her church during the years when her family lived in Pennsylvania and when she returned to South Carolina in 1972. In her later years, she enjoyed gardening and spending time with family.
A Celebration of Vermelle’s Life will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 17, 2019, at New Hope Baptist Church in Pelion, SC, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 2:45 pm at the church. The service will be conducted by Pastor Steve Young of New Hope Baptist Church and Rev. Sharon Long of Mill Creek United Methodist Church. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Tyler Robbins and Chris Robbins and nephews, Cecil Dykes, Tommy Gunter, Leon Gunter and Ray Gunter.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd Taylor; daughter, Barbara Jeanette Taylor; sisters, Elaine Spigner, Eula Shumpert, Elsie Gunter and brother, Leonard Wise. Surviving are her daughter, Linda Robbins (Chuck) of Matthews, NC; grandchildren, Tyler Robbins, Chris Robbins and Sarah Robbins, and sister-in-law, Louise Wise.
She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
