William Griggs

LEXINGTON – William S. Griggs, 77, of Lexington, SC went home to the Lord on the evening of Wednesday, May 7, 2014, following a long battle with several illnesses. He was predeceased by his father, Fred D. Griggs; mother, Ruby L. Griggs; brother, John Griggs; sisters, Ethel Turner, Sybil Huber, Mary Wayne and Linda Lewis. He is survived by his wife, Janet Godfrey Griggs of Lexington; daughter, Angelia G. Sox and son-in-law Ronnie Sox of Lexington; daughter C. Susanne Griggs of Gaston; step-son, Kemp Wilson and daughter-in-law Kaley Wilson of Columbia; step-son Hunter Wilson of Lexington; sister, Alice Jane Griggs of Temple, GA; brother Raymond Griggs of McDonough, GA; grandchildren Michael Kyzer, Daniel Griggs, Duncan Wilson and Quade Wilson, along with several nieces and nephews.

Bill served as president for the SC Workers’ Compensation Educational Association in 2006-2007. He received their Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008. Bill retired from the SC Association of Counties in 2012 where he served as Director of Insurance Services

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
