Cecil Lee Johnson, 81, of Liberty, Missouri, passed away at home Thursday, May 23, 2019. Cecil was born on the 4th of July 1937, to Tom and Nellie (Meyers) Johnson in Osceola, Missouri. He went to school in Clinton, Missouri. On October 17, 1959, he married Deloris Post at the 1st Baptist Church of Clinton, but before they could celebrate their first anniversary, Cecil was drafted into the Army on October 4, 1960. He served his duty at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas. After getting out of the Army, Cecil worked for Guy Pines Auto Sales as a mechanic. He retired from Mitch Crawford Holiday Motors as a mechanic.
The couple have three boys. His wife and family was the most important to Cecil, taking them on vacations in the family car. He also enjoyed camping and fishing. Later when he had grandchildren, he would pull the fifth wheel down to southern Missouri, and park it in the yard, where he would spend the whole summer to get as much time with them as possible.
Cecil is preceded in death by both parents, his brother Eugene, and two sisters; Wanda Jones and Wanita Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, his three sons; Don (Bradley) of Liberty, MO, David (Therese) of Ft. Worth, TX, and Stanley (Lara) of Buffalo, MO. Also Surviving are 3 brothers; James Johnson of Clinton, MO, Harold (Mary) Johnson of Liberty, MO, and Joe (Fran) Johnson of Grain Valley, MO, four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at the Church-Archer-Pasley Funeral Home, 119 E. Franklin St., Liberty, Missouri from 5:30 – 6:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, family request contributions go to the Crossroads Hospice.
