

A funeral service for Evelyn will be held on January 11th, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Liberty Christian Church, 427 East Kansas Street, Liberty, Missouri 64068. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Second Creek Cemetery, 4214 Northwest Cookingham Drive, Kansas City, Missouri 64164.
Evelyn was born to Phillip Benjamin Day and Leah Irene Strickler on August 7th, 1947 in Denver, Colorado. She had many siblings, including seven sisters and one brother. When she moved to Liberty she worked at Guy's Potato Chip factory until they closed their doors. She then spent 25 years working as a cook for the Liberty Christian Church Early Education Center, walking there in all kinds of weather. Evelyn loved the kids and was a hard worker, taking great pride in her work. She was an active member of the church.
Evelyn's beautiful daughter Mary Lou was special needs. They had a very loving and close relationship: Mary Lou would always smile tremendously when being with her mom.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Leah; her daughter Mary Louise; her sisters, Carol, Virginia, Marian, Phyllis, and Stella; and her brother, David.
Evelyn is survived by her sisters, Kathleen Dayringer (widowed) of Drexel Mo., and Donna Ilg (Bill) of Akron Ohio; two Sons David and Wayne of Popular Bluff; her grandchildren and great grandchildren, her adopted family, the Ullmans; three nieces, Kim Cremeen of Odessa, Victoria Wages of Buckner, and Debbie Harshner of Odessa; and many many beloved friends.
Evie will be especially remembered for her Sweet Smile, her Big Heart, her kind soul and her love of owls.
