George Edward Allen, Jr., also known as “Picklenose,” 80, of Roeland Park, KS passed away September 13, 2021 at Oakridge of Plattsburg. A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00pm with memorial services at 2:00pm all on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Paradise United Methodist Church, 18501 Church St., Smithville, MO 64089. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Huntington Disease Society of America, 505 Eighth Avenue, Suite 902, New York, NY 10018.
George was born September 3, 1941 in Kansas City, MO to George Edward Allen, Sr. and Ladora (Briscoe) Allen. He graduated from Shawnee Mission North in the late 50’s. George worked as a tinsmith for National Starch and Chemical Company for 43 years, retiring in 2004.
He spent his life enjoying the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and sharing that love with his family as often as possible. George taught us all how to live our life to the fullest. He was a prankster and often played practical jokes on family and friends. George will be forever loved, cherished and missed by all who knew him.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Ladora A. (Briscoe) and George E. Allen, Sr.; his son, George E. Allen, III “Strawberry”; and his granddaughter, Toni Lynn (Hassenpflug) Ingels.
He is survived by his partner-in-love, Sherry M. Moss; daughter and son-in-law, Tracy D. (Allen) and Robert S. Hassenpflug; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Shaunna D. (Hassenpflug) and Keith Britton; and his great granddaughter, the Apple of his eye and watermelon buddy, Lexi D. Britton; as well as other relatives and friends.
