Tom served in the Air Force for 38 years and retired in 2001 as a Master Sergeant. He first worked as a mechanic on C130’s at Richards Gebaur Air Base and then as a jet engine mechanic on the A10 Warthog at Whiteman AFB during his military career. After retirement from the Air Force Tom couldn’t sit still and decided to go back to work, he worked for 18 more years part-time at the Manheim Auto Auction as driver.
Tom was an avid outdoorsman: He was a deer and turkey hunting, trot line fishing, bonfire starting, garage sale seeking, bourbon drinking ball of fun. Tom had never met a stranger and because of that he was loved by too many to count and will be missed by all.
Tom leaves behind his wife Mitzie O’Neill of 49 years, his daughter Keri Hutchinson and husband Todd, his son Ryan O’Neill and wife Dawn, three grandchildren Preston, Hayden, and Haley (his grandchildren were his pride and joy). He also leaves behind a sister, Patricia Hobson, a brother, William O’Neill, and numerous nieces and nephews. Tom is proceeded in death by his parents, William “Bill” O’Neill and Dorthy Fitzsimmons O’Neill.
