Derek was the son of the late Douglas Carson Walker and Frances Yow.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Walker; daughter, Stevie Fields (Allen) of Chadbourn, NC; 2 grandchildren, Aidan and Dylan Fields; sisters, Debra Courtney and Sheri Phillips.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. at the Loflin Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Friday, May 2, 2025 from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. prior to the service. He will be laid to rest privately at Richland Gospel Church in Liberty.
