

Mary was born May 19, 1935 in Chatham County. She was a member of Rocky River Friends Meeting and served as Monthly Meeting Clerk for many years. She also served as pianist and organist since the age of 16. She and her husband served as custodians of the Rocky River Meeting House for many years. She was also active in Western Quarterly Meeting of Friends and North Carolina Yearly Meeting of Friends. Mary graduated from Staley High School and worked for Massachusetts Life Insurance Company for 40 years. She enjoyed baking, knitting and painting in addition to her music.
She was the daughter of the late, Arley A. Campbell and Kate Bridges Campbell and was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Curtis L. "Speedy" Arrington who was the love of her life; her brother, Arley Clyde Campbell; and special niece, Marcia Lankford.
She is survived by a special nephew, J. Dean Lankford who was her caretaker. A special thanks to him for the love and care he gave to her and Speedy. Other survivors include cousins, Faye W. Saunders, DeLette W. Routh, Mary B. Thornburg and Myrna B. Nixon; and her church family and many dear friends.
Mary will lie in repose on Sunday, January 21, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Rocky River Friends Meeting, 1795 Staley Snow Camp Road, Siler City, NC. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Rocky River Friends Meeting; burial will follow in the Meeting cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation in the fellowship hall following the service.
