The Governor Morehead School (GMS), students, staff, and community send condolences on the loss of a graduate, companion, and friend. Richard, beloved by many, served as a wonderful representative of GMS across the state and nation, winning acclaim as an artist in the field of visual impairment. We are all so very proud of him.

I worked with Richard his last two years of school at Governor Morehead School in Raleigh, at the Independent Living Apartment.
Memories of Richard: He worked so hard towards his goal of an independent and fulfilling life after graduation. He did his best to remain optimistic and faith centered, in spite of difficulties. His love and pride were family, friends, and country. He loved country music, especially patriotic and love centered, and he lived by his faith. I am so sad to hear of his passing. Will keep Richard’s family and his friend in my prayers.

I was Richard's Social Worker at the Governor Morehead School. I was in contact with him late last year/earlier this year and he was in good spirits. I was excited that he had a positive outlook despite what he was experiencing. Ms. Kathy and family, my prayer is that God would wrap His loving arms around you all during this difficult time. May His peace be upon you all. <3

I am so sorry to hear about Addison passing away. I always loved him. I remember him being in school with my son Bo. I remember picking him up on the Whites Memorial Baptist Church van on Wednesday nights. It was never a dull moment with him on the van. I will keep the family in my prayers. Jesus loves us all.
