Austin Louis Sockrider passed away December 1, 2022 at the age of 23.Austin was born April 26, 1999 to Steve and Kimberly Sockrider in Deerfield Beach, Florida. He was a lifelong resident of South Florida. Both curious and creative, he loved taking apart mechanical devices to learn the inner workings. As much as he enjoyed that discovery, he loved building things of his own creation. Austin was a friend to all things living, from insects to wild and domestic animals. He was often seen with a creature in his hand or arms and a warm smile on his face. It is with great sadness that Austin left this world all too young. His parents have shared the following message with close friends and family. "With no hope of recovery from an accidental fentanyl overdose, our beloved son Austin was given a "walk of honor" with doctors, nurses and staff of Broward Health North in tribute to Austin as he was delivered to the OR on life support to share everything he had left to save others. It was very moving and we are so proud of him. On this day, Austin saved 3 lives with organ donations and eased the lives of numerous others with secondary gifts. As you reach for the warm embrace of God, be at peace with Him son and your Papa Sock, Grammie and Grandpa Hacker and others that wish to keep you safe now and thank you for everything you brought to their lives, ours and so many others. We will miss you. We will always remember you. We love you."
The Sockrider family is planning a celebration of life for Austin at Grace Baptist Church at Highland Christian Academy in Pompano Beach, FL on January 21, 2023 with visitation from 10:00 am -12:00 noon and a celebration service at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, please consider a charitable donation to the "Austin Louis Sockrider Memorial Fund" established in his name at Faith Farm Ministries to help fund their faith-based, in-residence, long-term addiction programs (faithfarm.org).
