

Ciro Gentile, 89, passed away peacefully at home on January 31, 2022 after battling cancer. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and legendary restauranteur. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carmela, his children and their spouses; Sal (Denise), John (Colleen), and Theresa (David) and grandsons, Anthony, Joseph, Robert, and Christopher.
Ciro was born on January 15, 1933 in Cleveland, Ohio. When Ciro was 2 years old his father was terminally ill so he decided to bring the whole family back to native Sicily where he was raised by his mother and sister. At the age of 21 his mother passed away and Ciro traveled alone to New York City to start his new life. He met his wife and started in the restaurant business in New York. After working in Manhattan he relocated to Long Island where he owned several successful restaurants. In the late 70’s he relocated his family to Florida where he eventually opened Gianni’s restaurant.
Ciro enjoyed being surrounded by his family and friends. Over the years Ciro created family traditions and memories that will be treasured for generations to come. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and customers.

Viewing: Sunday, February 6th from 2:00p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at
Horizon Funeral Home, 4650 N. Federal Highway, Lighthouse Point, Fl.
Catholic Mass: Monday, February 7th at 12:00 noon
St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2700 N.E. 36th St., Lighthouse Point, Fl.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested that donations be made in his name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
