Dale graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1968 where he excelled both academically and athletically. He lettered in football, basketball and baseball and was actively involved in several extracurricular activities including Key Club & Y Club.
In 1969, Dale attended the University of Oklahoma, where he earned his bachelor’s degree and was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He then continued his education at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, where he received his Doctor of Medicine degree. He completed his residency at Shands Hospital at the University of Florida in Gainesville. Dale later moved to Palm Harbor, FL where he began his medical practice. He was among the first physicians to open what was then known as “Doc in a Box” now widely recognized as urgent care centers.
Known to friends simply as “Dr Dale”, he was truly a larger-than-life personality with varied interests. He loved hunting around the world, was an avid fisherman, and had a deep passion for helping others. Dale possessed an insatiable curiosity and a lifelong love of learning. He often said, "get the paper" by which he meant, earn accomplishments, degrees, and licenses through hard work and dedication. Over the years he earned "papers" as a physician, pilot, contractor, and certified sky & scuba diver. Dale even served as an NFL Scout.
Despite his many accomplishments, Dale would say without hesitation that his greatest joy and proudest achievements were his son G. Rainey Massad and his beloved grandchildren, Tallulah 12, and Maverick, 11. He's survived by his son G. Rainey Massad and grandchildren Tallulah and Maverick Massad of Lighthouse Point, FL, his sister, Darla Massad of Lawton Ok, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends whom he loved deeply and enjoyed spending time with.
He was preceded in death by his father, Glen Massad; his mother Jeri Massad, both of Lawton, OK and his sister Debi Massad Condra of Dallas, TX.
A celebration of Dale's life will be held on February 21, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Horizon funeral home 4650 N. Federal Hwy Lighthouse Point, FL 33064 with a reception to follow at Rainey's home.
