She saw two world wars, and lived through Nazism and Communism. She loved one man, and she never had kids. She had only one kidney and we celebrated her birthday twice in December because the Gregorian calendar came into effect the day after she was born so Dec 28 followed Dec 14.
She spoke 5 languages and published her real life stories in three countries. She was in two movies, both about Queen Marie of Romania, niece of Queen Victoria. She saw the humor in many instances of life and she lived to talk and to meet people. She struggled under regimes of terror so she was plagued of fear. But still she beat expectations all the time. She was telling us she will die for the last 40 years.
At the hospital, on the lady leg of her journey, she was upset that there were no carrots in her soup. Her life was lived through errors, she was born during the wars of blood and supremacy and died during the culture wars. She was very perceptive and thought the best of people, admitting that it wasn’t bc they were such but hoping they would strive to reach a higher standard. She loved beer and vermouth and had some every day but not around a Baha’i! We will miss her flickering light now that she is in the Light where truth and courage and love are eternal!
A visitation and reception will be held on Tuesday, February 1st, 2022 from 11:00am-3:00pm at Horizon Funeral & Cremation Services.
She leaves to cherish her memory a nephew; Thomas Shrager and a host of other sorrowing family and friends.
