It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas Quartiano on August 17, 2024 at the age of 68, while engaging in one of his life’s passions, surfing. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and a pillar of the South Florida and Eleuthera, Bahamas communities.
Born in New Jersey to Fred and Alice Quartiano, he moved to Miami, Florida at a young age with his older brother Mark and younger sister Elizabeth (deceased). Tom, affectionately known to many as Tommy Q or TQ was an ocean lover - an avid fisherman, boat captain, free-diver and surfer. He traveled the world chasing the ultimate wave. During these travels he forged and retained friendships spanning over 50 years, many of which still consider him their dearest friend today.
Tom served 24 years of dedicated service with the North Miami Beach Police Department, retiring as a Commander. Still young and vibrant, Tom transitioned to the private sector where he worked as a Fraud Investigator with Wells Fargo Bank. This position allowed him to continue on in a field which he was previously revered at the police department.
Tom was a man of many talents, not only excelling in his professional life but also mastering the arts of carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and home construction. His hands built many things, but his proudest project was his dream home in the Bahamas, where he was meticulously crafting a haven for his family.
Tom was a Christian, a believer who accepted that Jesus died on the Cross and shed His blood to redeem mankind. He lived a life anchored in faith, always putting others before himself. Tom was not a braggart, but preferred to be on the quieter side. He was an extremely kind gentleman, a steadfast friend, and was always ready to lend a helping hand. His spirit of generosity, hard work and faith will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Tom is survived by the love of his life, Sheryl, who was his wife and best friend. He was the father to Shannon Eramo, his cherished and beloved daughter. Tom is also survived by his brother Mark; grandchildren, Colton and Harper; his son-in-law, Justin Eramo; his step-sons Matthew, Adam and Justin; as well as his nephews, Maverick and Crocket, and his nieces Savannah, Alanna and Sia.
His sudden loss of life is deeply mourned by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 11:00am at Coastal Community Church located at 3901 NE 22nd Ave., Lighthouse Point, FL 33064
