

Dorothy Mae Taylor, 87, of Lima, died at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018 at Lima Convalescent Home. She was born Jan. 27, 1931 in Chicago Heights, IL to Sam and Ann (Gunner) Zerante who preceded her in death. On June 24, 1950, she married Richard “Dick” Taylor who died on Aug. 18, 2003.
Dorothy’s survivors include her children: Richard “Rick” Taylor of Columbia, SC, Mike (Marilyn) Taylor and Ann (Jay) Sheets both of Lima, Russell “Russ” Taylor of Grand Rapids, MI, Cindy (Glen) Gorman of Lima and Mark (Lacy) Taylor of Grayslake, IL; a brother, John (Joyce) Zerante of Lima; fifteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Sam Zerante, a sister, Josephine Martino and a great-grandson, Benjamin Sheets.
Dorothy had been employed at Wiechart’s Drugstore, Zeiglers Produce, Disney Orlando and at Meijer. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, playing Mexican Train and her exercise group. She especially loved time spent with her kids and grandkids.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018 at St. Gerard Catholic Church. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery on the day before their 68th anniversary, June 23. Visitation will be on Saturday, from 9:30 until 11 a.m. in church. A celebration of her life will follow Mass at St. Gerard’s Parish Center.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lima Convalescent Home or St. Rita’s Hospice.
