

James F. “Taf” Taflinger, 59 of Elida, died 3:23 p.m. Monday, June 21, 2010 at SRMC. He was born on August 18, 1950 in Lima to William and Rosemary (Promen) Taflinger and they preceded him in death. On January 30, 1971 he married Nancy L. Brickner and she survives.
James was a retired Machinist for Dana Corporation. He had also worked part time for Lima Pathology Labs. He was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church, he was an Army National Guard veteran, a member of Knights of Columbus Loyalty Council, a member of the Lima FOE 370 and a member of the UAW-Local 1765.
We are all blessed to have had such a wonderful man for a husband, dad and grandpa. His grandchildren were the light of his life. He will always be our hero! Jim’s smile could brighten a room. He will always be remembered for his great sense of humor and positive attitude. Jim was always there with love and support for anyone who needed him.
He was an avid Notre Dame football fan. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and took numerous vacations together. He will be greatly missed and always remembered.
He is survived by his children: Tiffany (P.J.) Meyer of Elida, Melissa (Kevin) Schuh of Wapakoneta, his grandchildren: Keaton, Kassidy and Ashley. He also leaves behind his siblings: William (Rebecca) Taflinger, Tom (Judy) Taflinger, Mike (Karen) Taflinger and Terri (Kenny) Barker all of Lima and Liesl Taflinger of Wapakoneta, a sister Linda Brabant preceded him in death. He is also survived by his in-laws: Rocky (Bev) Brickner of Elida, Joe (Connie) Brickner of Shawnee, KS, Patty (John) Singer of Coral Springs, FL; his ‘favorite’ mother-in-law: Lucy Brickner of Lima ,many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Mr Taflinger was preceded in death by 2 nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Friday June 25, 2010 at St. Gerard Catholic Church, with Father Joy Ponooly as celebrant, with entombment to follow in Gethsemani Cemetery.
Family and friends may call Thursday, June 24, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home 506 N. Cable Rd . Lima, where a Parish Wake will be conducted Thursday evening at 7 p.m..
In lieu of flowers, preferred memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee.
