
L. Lucille Whitney, 97 of Lima passed away Sunday morning, June 10, 2012 at 10:55 a.m. at Baton Rouge Senior Center. She was born in Alger, Ohio on March 12, 1915 to Frank F. & Opal Rebecca (Newland) Gould and they preceded her in death. On May 5, 1955 she married Dewey Whitney and he died on March 5, 1966.
She is survived by a sister, Luena (John) Miller of Logan County, Ohio. She is preceded in death by her children, a son, Robert Dean and a daughter, Barbara, her brothers, Merle, Ivo, Gene and Maurice Gould.
Lucille worked in retail for many years at S.S. Kresge’s, where she retired and worked at Newbury’s Dept. Store. She had also been employed at Westinghouse and the Lima Cigar and Tobacco Factory. She loved gardening, sewing and cooking, but most of all enjoyed spending time with friends and those around her. She was a member of Union Chapel Missionary Church and a member of the Y.W.C.A.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Bayliff officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
