

L. Ralph Frueh, 87, of Lima passed away 4:10 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, February 12, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was born March 26, 1927 in Allen County to Cameron and Flora (Nance) Frueh and they preceded him in death. On June 26, 1956 he married R. Jean Evans and she passed away September 2, 2013.
Ralph was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church where he had been a member of the Holy Name Society. He worked Bingo at St. Gerard’s while his children were getting their Catholic education. He was inducted to the St. Gerard Hall of Fame. Ralph was a life member of the VFW Post 1275 and the Lima Eagles.
He was a WWII Army veteran, and was very proud of the letter he received from President Truman that thanked him for his service to our country. He was a retired salesman for Lima Radio Parts.
Ralph’s survivors include his children: Bruce Frueh, Linda Frueh, Sheila Custer, Beth Carrier and Scott L. Frueh. He was Grandpa to, Shawn (Ellie) Schmidt, Tonya Custer, Ray Custer, Jr., Adam Carrier, Zack Carrier, Robert (Tori) Frueh, BJ (Patti) Frueh, Jessica Dewitt and ten great grandchildren.
Mr. Frueh, being the last of his siblings, was preceded in death by his brothers, Adolph, John, Bud “C.V.” and Frank; his sisters Mary, Margeret, Mildred and Ann. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sarah Schmidt.
Graveside service were held at Salem Mennonite Cemetery, Gomer, Ohio.
The Frueh children would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Ms. Helen Stambor for calling on their parents every Tuesday to make sure they were okay. Kindness like that will not be forgotten!
