Mary Frances Neeley, 87, of Alger, passed away 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 20, 2018, due to heart failure, surrounded by her loving family at the Wyngate Senior Living Community in Lima. She was born in Ada on March 15, 1931 to Darrell and Blonda Vida (Leonard) Dern and they preceded her in death. On July 11, 1954, she married Lawrence Calvin Neeley and he passed away on March 1, 2002.
Her survivors include her children: Michael David (Debra) Neeley and their children, Jason Cox, Jennifer (Patrick) Shambarger, Jessica (Luke) Suarez and Grant Neeley; Brian J. (Diana) Neeley and their children, Matthew (Rochelle) Neeley, Brittany (Michael) Armbruster and Alexis (Samuel) Cox: and Lawrence Calvin (Alyson) Neeley, Jr. and their children, Lance (Amy) Neeley and Lawren Neeley. She also leaves fifteen great grandchildren. Along with her parents and her husband she is preceded in death by her sister, Kathyn R. Costa.
Mrs. Neeley was employed as an educator for the Riverside School district, finishing her career teaching the first grade. After retirement, Mary was President of the Adult Literacy Program of Hardin County. She was active in the Audubon Society and many other community activities. She was a member of the Alger First United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher; she was a graduate of Park College and earned her Master’s degree from Wright State University. She was a great wife, mother and grandmother.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, June 25, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Alger First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Don Clinger, officiating. Burial will follow in Preston Cemetery, Alger.
Family and friends may call on Sunday June 24, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at SIFERD-ORIANS FUNERAL HOME and again one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church in Alger.
