Jean was born on June 14, 1945 in Massachusetts and moved to California as a child. She had 2 sisters, Shirley and her late sister Audrey. She attended UC Davis and Berkeley before pursing her nursing degree from UC San Francisco and master’s degree in public administration. It was in San Francisco that she met and married her husband of 53 years, John Hanson, an officer in the English Merchant Marines.
The decision to live in the U.S. was decided by a coin toss and Jean won, although John was relieved. They lived their lives in Cupertino and Danville while raising their 2 children, Christopher and Wendy. After working many successful years as a nurse and manager in public health, Jean and John eventually retired and settled in Lincoln. She was blessed to have 4 grandchildren, Mercedes, Brooklyn, Calvin, and Jack who she loved dearly as did they.
Jean was most happy spending time with her family and extensive network of friends. She loved cooking, gardening, watching the hummingbirds and other wildlife in her backyard, entertaining, traveling, sewing, playing flute and piano, and helping others. Jean was selfless putting the needs of others in front of her own. She will be sorely missed and loved.
