

John was born February 1, 1928 in Hockerville, OK to John and Anna Ball. He lived there with his father on a farm until he was 16 and came out west with his mother and step-dad. Later they moved to the Sacramento area. He joined the US Navy and was stationed the entire 4 years at the Alameda Naval Air Stations, working in the shipyard.
After leaving the Navy he went to mortuary school, he did that for a while until he decided to join the California Highway Patrol. He patrolled the Lancaster area, then the Bay area and then Sacramento. He retired December 1983 after 28 years. John passed away peacefully at Kaiser Roseville. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie of 50 years. John and Bonnie raised registered quarter horses all the years of the marriage, with some being world champions. He is also survived by his son Jeffrey (Kim), and grandchildren Nikki and Zoe. Funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Jason Schmidt of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Citrus Heights California at Lincoln Funeral Home at 406 H Street in Lincoln, California. Internment in the veterans section at Santa Clara Memorial Park in Lincoln, California.
