Jose Fernando Silva

He was surrounded by his family during his final moments, following a prolonged five-year struggle with cancer.

Jose was born on March 6, 1943, to Franquelim and Luisa Silva on the island of Faial, Azores. In 1966, he met María, the love of his life, they were united in marriage on June 29, 1968. Together they immigrated to the United States on August 25, 1969, and subsequently welcomed two wonderful children, Heldaro Silva and Rosa Silva-Tichauer.

Jose's greatest joys in life stemmed from his role as a grandfather, as he took immense pleasure in spoiling his five grandchildren. He was a diligent and proud man, whose family's well-being was of utmost importance to him. In 2009, after four decades of dedicated service, Jose retired from Gladding McBean.

Jose was a devoted member and past president of the Lincoln Holy Ghost Festa (A.P.D.E.S) and was also a member of the Thornton Our Lady of Fatima Festa, the Sacramento Festa, and the Elk Grove Festa.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Maria Lourdes; his son, Heldaro Silva, and daughter-in-law, Jodi; his daughter, Rosa Silva-Tichauer, and son-in-law, Garrett; as well as his five cherished grandchildren, Kelsie Shearer, Benjamin Silva, Lyla Tichauer, Sofia Tichauer, and Grace Tichauer. Additionally, Jose is survived by his older siblings, Franklin Silva and Maria Kelly, along with younger siblings, Ricardo Silva, Rita Garcia, and Renato Silva.

A public visitation for Jose will be held Wednesday, January 29, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Lincoln Funeral Home, 406 H Street, Lincoln, CA 95648. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will occur Wednesday, January 29, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, 406 H Street, Lincoln, CA 95648. Funeral Mass will occur Thursday, January 30, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 280 Oak Tree Ln, Lincoln, CA 95648. Burial Rites and Interment will occur Thursday, January 30, 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Lincoln Cemetery, 1445 1st Street, Lincoln, CA 95648.
