Her father was a professor of history at the U. of the Philippines (Diliman), who conducted sabbatical research as a Fulbright Grantee in Washington DC in the early 1950’s and inspired his sons and daughters and extended family to study and/or live abroad.
Aurora had nine brothers and sisters. They all received their initial college education at the U. of the Philippines. She was the first of her generation of the extended family to venture aboard, arriving in Lincoln as a Fulbright scholar in 1955 at the U. of Nebraska.
She graduated with a MA in social work in 1957 and meanwhile met her husband Neil Sterling Trabert, Jr. They were married that same year until his death in 2008.
They moved to Austin where their daughter was born and then to the Philippines, where their son was born.
While in the Philippines, Aurora taught at the Philippine Women’s University. Aurora, husband, daughter and son moved to Lincoln in 1966. Her work life there included: Head Start with Lincoln Public Schools (with disadvantaged students) Catholic Social Services (placing babies for adoption) Lincoln Regional Center (with the mentally disturbed).
Meanwhile many of Aurora’s siblings and extended family had spread abroad to Canada, Norway, England, Florida, Hawaii, Japan and many other places. She visited many of those places, and received visitors from those and other places, many times over the years. Aurora is survived by son Peter Trabert (born Neil Sterling Trabert, III) and daughter Sharon Ann (Richard) Kagiyama. Attire for the funeral: If you wish, dress casually, but modestly.

A visitation for Aurora will be held Monday, August 8, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 South 14th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska 68512. A funeral services will occur Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home.
