Clarice LaVern Brown, 83, died Tuesday, December 9, 2014. Born October 27, 1931 to Ernest and Helena (Strufing) Freye of Martel, where she lived as a child. Clarice was a UNL alum, a hardworking and diligent business owner, a caring friend and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. All will remember her for her wry wit, helpfulness, thoughtfulness, but, most of all, her gracious and giving spirit. She is survived by her son Rick Brown of Grand Island, daughter Janene Schneider (Bill) of Denver, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and many loving friends. Clarice was preceded in death by her parents, brother Clarence and sister-in-law Marjorie Freye, nephew Roger Freye and grand-niece Melodie Dunbar. A memorial service will be held at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home at 12:30pm on Monday, December 15 with Rev. Scott Shreve officiating. Viewing at 11:30.
