Debbie graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School in 1975. She worked her way up at Metro Group Corporation for at least twenty years as a machine operator and, eventually, supervising. She then worked for Lincoln Public Schools at both Scott Middle School and Lincoln High School until her retirement in 2022.
Debbie will be remembered for her love of her cats, Ralphie and Metro, "her boys". She also lovingly adored her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with everyone. Debbie had a huge heart which showed the amount of unconditional love she had for those closest to her. Debbie was known for her ornery hijinks and humor - even until the end.
She is survived by brothers, Michael F. Coffey of Sterling, Nebraska, Joseph A. (Angie) Coffey of Summerfield, Kansas; her "rocks" as she called them, god-daughter, Kimmie Belford of Lincoln, Nebraska, and niece, Jodi (Coffey) Sterns; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and treasured loved ones.
She is preceded in death by father, Frank W. Coffey; mother, Flora M. (Thies) Coffey; and her beloved boys, Ralphie and Metro.
A celebration of life for Debbie will be held Friday, February 28, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 South 14th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska 68512. Following the celebration of life will be a burial at 2:45 PM at Lincoln Memorial Park and Cemetery, 6700 South 14th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska 68512. The family encourages those attending the service to wear tie dye shirts or the color purple in honor of Debbie. Please note, this service will be as Debbie wished it to be, a celebration of her life - not a mourning of her death. It will be unconventional and uncensored. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family to be designated at a later date.
