Donald L. Pester, age 88 of Lincoln passed away at The Legacy on Friday, August 12, 2016. He was born on March 20, 1928 in Havelock to Carl and Blanche (Weatherford) Pester. He graduated from University High School in Lincoln. Don married Esther Rader on September 18, 1949 in Sprague, Nebraska. He farmed a few years, worked for Reddish Brothers driving a fuel truck. He worked for American Stores for 24 years until it closed in 1982, and then worked for LPS in many capacities. After retirement, Esther and Don operated their own lawn service. Don was a member of Trinity Chapel Church in Rokeby, Nebraska since 1954. Member of the Moose Lodge #175, Eagles Lodge #147, served on District school boards #69, #3, and #43. Don is survived by his wife Esther, daughters, Shirley (Rich) Baack, Sharon (Stan) Plautz, sons, Bruce (Debbie) Pester, Wayne (Laura) Pester all of Lincoln, 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law, Charles (Marge) Rader of Waverly, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Ronald, infant grandson, Brian Smoyer, brothers, Lawrence, Wendell, Elden, Boyd and Lloyd, sisters, Neva Gray and Doris Wolfe. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 16, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends and relatives from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S. 14th Street. Interment will be in Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
