Eugene A. Deeter

Eugene A. Deeter, 88, born in Lincoln to Glenn and Grace Deeter on December 20, 1926; passed away in peace at home on June 26, 2015. Gene received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska Lincoln and was a member of the ATO Fraternity. He was in the U.S. Navy; upon his return, he joined his father in business, establishing Deeter Foundry Inc. He married Jacqueline Wightman in August 1949 and they had three children. Upon Jacque’s death, he remarried Suzaine Guenzel Weingarten, a long time family friend. Gene was a member of the Country Club of Lincoln; Sunrise Country Club; Westminster Presbyterian Church, and he served as President of the Executive Club. He enjoyed traveling but always looked forward to their winters in Rancho Mirage, CA. Survivors include his wife, Suzaine Deeter; daughters, Carol (Mike) Campbell; Jane (Craig) Pohlman; and son; Doug (Leslie) Deeter; grandchildren, Sarah (Justin) McKee; Christina (Derrick) Eells; Amanda (Peter) Kontos; Angela Pohlman; Stephanie (Drew) Metzler; Carly Pohlman; Cary (Chad) Kline; and Trent Deeter, as well as six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Grace Deeter; and his first wife, Jacque Deeter. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday June 30, 2015 at 3:00 PM at Westminster Presbyterian Church (2110 Sheridan Blvd) in Lincoln. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to the Westminster Presbyterian Church Foundation.
