

Frank Charles Alderson Jr., age 70, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away peacefully in his sleep early in the morning hours of Saturday, January 4, 2025, after battling liver cancer. He was born on November 20, 1954 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Frank C. Alderson Sr. and Carmel M. (Cecile) Alderson. Frank grew up in Carmel, Indiana, where he attended Carmel Public Schools graduating from Carmel High School in 1973. Following high school, Frank attended Purdue University where he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, Omega Chapter. Graduating in 1977 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Management and a minor in Computer Science. On May 21, 1977, Frank married Penny J. Price in Three Oaks, Michigan. They were together for 47 eventful years. After graduation Frank and his new wife moved to Kettering, Ohio, to accept a position with NCR Corporation. In 1979, they moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana, where Frank became a senior computer programmer for Lincoln National Corporation. In 1981, the couple welcomed a son, Stewart E. Alderson and, in 1984, a daughter, Elizabeth W. Alderson (Buss). Frank and family spent many years in Fort Wayne enjoying time with new friends they met along the way, this included new events including learning to play the bagpipes, joining Summit City Masonic Lodge no. 170, Valley of Fort Wayne Scottish Rite and Mizpah Shrine. In 1986, Frank co-founded the Fort Wayne Scottish Pipes & Drums and became the band’s first Pipe Major. Over the years Frank won many piping competitions at highland festivals in a variety of states. In 1992, Frank took a position with Neverdahl-Loft & Associates in Lincoln, Nebraska, moving his family there early in 1993. He continued bagpiping by joining the Omaha Pipes & Drums and soon after founded the St. Giles Pipe Band in Lincoln where he continued teaching. In 1994, the Life Office Management Association, Inc, designated Frank a Fellow of the Life Management Institute. In 1996, Frank & Penny took ownership of Rocky Mountain Highland Supply, an importer of bagpipes and Scottish paraphernalia. In 2000, Frank opened his own Alderson Consulting Group. Over the years he worked for several insurance companies; Lincoln Benefit Life, Ameritas, Thrivent, Allstate to name a few and was most recently working with Protective Life of Birmingham, Alabama. Frank enjoyed raising English bulldogs, working with Masonic youth groups in Nebraska, scuba diving, watching Husker football, photography and building model airplanes and ships. Frank is preceded in death by his father Frank Alderson Sr., and mother Carmel M. (Cecile) Alderson. He is survived by his wife Penny; his son, Stewart (Brittany), Lebanon, Indiana; daughter Elizabeth “Liz” (Bryan) Buss, Houston, Texas; Grandchildren, McKenna, Skylar, and Jonathan; Brother, Craig (Kathleen), Zionsville, Indiana; Brother-in-Law Raymond Price, Lander, Wyoming, Sister-in-Law Barbara Danner (Richard), Holland, Michigan; Nieces and Nephews Katie Price, Lander, Wyoming, Alison Price, Phoenix, Arizona, Arthur (Janelle) Danner, Grandville, Michigan, William Alderson, Brownsburg, Indiana, Nicholas Alderson, Whitestown, Indiana, and Abigail Alderson, Cambridge, Massachusetts.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donation to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation in Frank’s honor.
Private service to be at a later date. Burial will be in Indianapolis, Indiana.
