Fred Maddox, 95, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away peacefully in his sleep into the arms of Jesus—deeply loved, forgiven, and forever free. Born on May 15, 1930 in Ashland, Oklahoma to Victor and Roxie (Fickes) Maddox, he was the youngest of nine children.
In 1948 at the age of 18, Fred enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served during the Korean War and the Viet Nam conflict. Fred met Leona, the love of his life, on a blind date when she lived in Marysville, Kansas and he was stationed at Ft. Riley, Kansas. They were united in marriage on November 4, 1950 and shared 65 years together. Following many moves with Fred’s military appointments the family settled in Lincoln in 1968. He founded and established the family business, Fred’s Auto Electric, in 1972 in south Lincoln.
In 2017, Fred moved to independent living at Legacy Terrace where he will be remembered for sharing his humor, pictures of family, and the gospel with his favorite verse, John 3:16, at “Fred’s Corner” with his many friends.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Leona H. (Luedders) Maddox; his parents; brothers, Guy, Paul, Nelson, Sherman, Austin, and Bonnie Maddox; and, sisters, Louise Bumgarner, and an unnamed baby girl.
