Frederick C. Wendel, of Lincoln, age 91, passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2023. He was born on August 12, 1931 in Hannibal, Missouri to William and Irene (Musgrave) Goble. He was adopted on April 10, 1941 in Leavenworth, Kansas by Christopher M. and Lena D. (Werner) Wendel. He married Judith Ann Orlowski on August 14, 1959 in Leavenworth, Kansas. He worked as an LCMS teacher and principal at Faith Lutheran in Los Angeles, California, as well as St. Paul Lutheran in Leavenworth, Kansas, and Calvary Lutheran in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was a faculty member at Concordia Teachers College in Seward, Nebraska, the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyoming, and a Professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He was a member of Christ Lincoln. He also served as a member of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife Judy of 65 years; daughter Karen and son-in-law Ron Brodhead of Omaha; sons Kent of Lincoln and Bruce of Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren David and Daniel of Omaha, Skylar of Lincoln, Whitney and Collin of Kansas City, Missouri; great-grandchildren Jacob, Teagan, and Addley Brodhead; along with nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Betty Goble, Patricia Abbott (Goble), Jean Baran (Goble), Dorothy A. Raymond (Wendel), and Helen M. Endriss (Wendel); brothers Martin E. Wendel and William Goble.
