

Gayle Diane Freeman, 81, of Lincoln, formerly of Friend, Nebraska, passed away on December 7, 2016. She was born January 31, 1935 to Elton and Iva Dean in Friend. Her family moved to Washington state when she was 5. Gayle attended Puyallup grade school and Port Angeles Jr. High where she excelled on tumbling and baton teams until she moved back to Friend in 1949. She received her high school diploma from the University of Nebraska. Gayle was united in marriage to Norman L. Freeman on September 19, 1952 in Lincoln, NE. To this union a daughter, Gay Lee, and son Norman Dean were born. Gayle was a Life Guard for several years at the Friend pool, where she also taught swimming and diving. She worked at Warren Memorial Hospital as a nurse aide for several years, for Ach & Ach Attorneys at Law for ten years, for Huston Truck Line for ten years and Culligan for ten years. She was athletic, enjoyed roller skating, softball, hunting, and golf. She was especially proud of her hole in one. Gayle was good at nursing the sick and saved several lives from accidents and drowning. Gayle loved her family above all and enjoyed following their activities.
