Harvey grew up in Nebraska City, graduating from Nebraska City High School. After High School, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. After returning home he attended Nebraska Wesleyan University for a couple of years before starting his working career. He began working at Lawlor’s Sporting Goods and Misle’s Service Center, before starting a long career with the Lincoln Correctional Center, where he later retired.
On November 24, 1957 Harvey married the love of his life, Carol (Reuter) at the Presbyterian Church in Dunbar, NE. The two met while working together at Woodman Accident and Life, beginning a partnership that would span 68 years. Together they raised three daughters, who Harvey supported wholeheartedly throughout their school activities, sports, choir and later their families.
Harvey was a devoted family man, and nothing meant more to him than being present for his daughters and grandchildren. Whether attending games, plays or band competitions, he and Carol were always the loudest supporters in the crowd. Many treasured family celebrations and dinners were spent together at Spikes, creating memories that will be lovingly remembered.
A lifelong NASCAR fan, Harvey rarely missed a Sunday race and was even able to attend a few in person. He proudly cheered on Dale Earnhardt and later Dale Earnhardt Jr. One of his and Carol’s greatest shared joys was following Nebraska volleyball. They were Match Club members, traveling to get to watch and cheer on the team and dedicated season ticket holders. They faithfully cheered on the Huskers and cherished the time they spent together supporting the team.
Harvey is survived by his beloved wife, Carol; daughters Deb Fogerty (Pat), DeAnn Korinek (Daryl), and Denise Hagglund (David); grandchildren Shawn Fogerty, Amanda Fucinaro (John), Bryan Fogerty (Tav Lopez), Kyle Fogerty, Tristin Korinek, Devin Roeder and Jarrett Roeder and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Harvey’s legacy is one of devotion – devotion to family, to his passions and to the life he built with Carol. His presence, support and steady love will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
