Joanna Jane (Eyer) Lutz passed away peacefully on February 8, 2015 at age 96. Joanna was a lifelong resident of Lincoln, and a graduate of Jackson High. While still in school, Joanna worked at the Cornhusker Hotel where she met John Lutz, to whom she was married for 67 years until his death in 2003. She also worked as a seamstress for the Terri Lee doll factory. Joanna was an award winning artist and long time art teacher, who was much beloved by her family, friends and art students. She also loved gardening, raising African violets, and doll collecting. Joanna is survived by her daughter, Judy Steffen; daughter and son in law, Jennie (Russ) Bohaty; son and daughter in law, Jerry (Karen) Lutz; eight grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren. Joanna was preceded in death by her husband John; son and daughter in law, Jon and Ellen Lutz; son in law, Duane Steffen; siblings, Florence Shultz, Georgia Ray and Harold “Bud” Eyer, and granddaughter, Heather (Bohaty) Dougherty. Joanna requested no funeral services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association; American Diabetes Association; or the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
