Lucille was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Floyd and Gertrude Swartz.
She lived a long life defined by devotion to family, quiet faith, and steady care for others. Lucille grew up in Lincoln, NE. It was there that she was swept off her feet by a charming Irishman (Robert McManus) at a USO dance in 1944.
They went on to be married on August 8, 1945. They lived in many locations throughout the US while raising a family of 4 sons and 2 daughters. Lucille was a person of humility and deep religious
faith, always putting others before herself. Growing up during the Great Depression shaped her into someone both resourceful and careful, and she carried those values throughout her life. She was
wonderfully organized and detail-oriented, caring about getting things right—not out of fussiness, but because she believed details mattered Lucille was devoted to her children and supportive in a quiet, dependable way. She was steadfast in what she believed and generous with her time and resources. A natural caregiver, she lovingly cared for her family, including her older siblings, and anyone who needed her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved
husband, Robert McManus; her seven siblings;
and her granddaughter, Betsy McManus.
She is survived by her children: Mary McManus Ducharme
(Ed), Bob McManus, Mike McManus (Diane), Jim
McManus (Suzanne), Brian McManus (JoAnn), and
Patty McManus Corcoran (Chip); along with her 16
grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and extended
family, who will carry forward her legacy of love,
faith, and quiet strength.
