

Mary was born June 30,1951 to Richard and Mildred Henningsen. She grew up in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. She graduated from Plattsmouth High School in 1969. Mary worked at A &W Drive-in while attending school. She met her future husband, Norm at the Syracuse Ballroom in late 1969. They later married September of 1970. They raised two boys, Greg and Kurt. Mary was home with the boys while they were growing up, along with running the family upholstery business for many years. She had various jobs, including interior and floral design before she began managing Aardvark Antique Mall where she worked for the next twenty years until her retirement.
Mary enjoyed decorating, entertaining, hosting surprise birthday parties for family and friends. She loved decorating for all holidays, especially Halloween. She had an irreplaceable pet named Daisy who was a Corgi-Terrier mix. Mary was also an expert at trivia and loved to frustrate her friends with her extensive trivia knowledge. She was also an avid Husker football and volleyball fan, and she also enjoyed watching the Kansas Chiefs play football. In later years, Mary enjoyed the game show network. She continuously supported her families activities, and attending many events.
Mary will be remembered by; her husband of 55 years, Norm, her sons; Greg (Rebecca) Essink of Lincoln, Ne, Kurt (Kerry) Essink of Clarksville, Iowa, grandchildren; Allyson (Teryn) Joebgen, Katelyn (fiance, Trace Engel) Essink, Isabel Essink, sister-in-law; Rowanna Essink, sister; Elizabeth Henningsen, and many friends through her card club and extension club.
She is preceded in death by, parents, Richard and Mildred Henningsen, In-laws; John and Gertrude Essink, Step mother-in-law; Jennie Essink, brother-in-law; Harlan Essink, brother and sister-in-law; Bob and Virginia DeBoer.
Private burial will be held at Oak Hills Cemetery, Plattsmouth, Nebraska.
Memorials are designated to the American Cancer Society.
