Philip was born May 04, 1930 the son of Maurice and Elizabeth Cooper (Bell). Philip graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree and was born in Chingford England. He immigrated to Canada and eventually arrived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where he met his lovely wife of 55 years, Janet. In Cedar Rapids Iowa he accepted a position with Square D Company. He then transferred to Lincoln, Nebraska and was one of the first ten families to open the Square D plant in Lincoln where he worked until retirement. He was a gifted musician playing the accordion and electronic organ. Some of his other enjoyments included competitive cycling with his brother in younger years, dancing with his wife of 55 years, Janet, camping, fishing, woodworking and tinkering in his workshop.
Philip is proceeding in death by parents.
Survivors include his wife, Janet (Wermager), son David Cooper and his wife Terri Cooper, Daughter Sharon Baker and husband Dirk Baker; Grandchildren; Gina Dejong (Dan), Grant Cooper, Kristin Engebretson (Collin), Kade Baker and Maya Baker.
Visitation will be held Thursday August 8th from 4pm to 8pm and service will be 3pm Friday, August 9th both at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 South 14th Street, Lincoln Nebraska 68512.
