

Philip B. Smith, 93, passed away Thursday, November 22, 2018 at Journey House in Lincoln. Phil was born December 18, 1924 in Lincoln, the son of Harry and Charlotte (Gleason) Smith. He graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School with the class of 1943. Phil enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving from 1943 to 1946 in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater on the U.S.S Catskill. He worked in the grocery business all of his life, beginning at Ralph’s IGA in University Place, as a salesman with the Seavey & Florsheim Brokerage Company and eventually retired while working Nabisco and Kraft Foods. He belonged to American Legion Post #3 and the Allied Food Club.
Phil is survived by son, Hal (Debbie) Smith of Spring Hill, FL; daughters, Carol Sheaff of Lincoln and Chris (Ron) Sinclair of S. Elgin, IL; Grandchildren, Kelly Mullendore, Kim (Eric) Neumayer and Clay Sheaff, and Colin, Aaron, Carly, and Casey Sinclair; Great-Grandchildren, Katelyn, Ava and Blake Neumayer; Shelby, Jacob, and Zeke Mullendore; niece and nephew. He was preceded in death by wife, Bonnie (Travis) Smith; his parents; brother, Harry Smith; sisters, Winifred Smith and Florence Lembke.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, December 7, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church (6111 Morrill Ave) in Lincoln. Interment with military honors will take place at Lincoln Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday, December 6, 2018 from 4 until 8 PM with a Rosary recited at 7:00 PM all at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home. Memorials have been suggested to Masses at St. Patrick Parish.
