Randy Streeton, 93, entered into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, September 1, 2018. Born August 18, 1925 in Callaway, NE. to Guy and Mary Mabel Streeton. Athletics always played a big role in Randy’s life and it was how he connected with people. While serving in the US Navy, he was on the All-Pacific Wrestling team and played on the Bremerton (WA) Rockets Semi-Pro football team. He got his BS at York College, where he played on the football, wrestling, track, and baseball teams at York College. He taught school in Wyoming and coached wrestling, track and basketball as well as teaching. He was the Director of the Salvation Army Community Center in Lincoln, NE and was involved in many youth and sports programs. He saw the need for a basketball program for smaller players, so he started the Lincoln “Small Fry” Basketball program. This program continues in existence over 58 years later. They won a national championship in their early years. Randy received the Knights of AK-SAR-BEN Good Neighbor award in June, 1977, the Salvation Army Employee of the Decade award in 1977, the KFOR Man of the Year and was on the Mayor’s Physical Fitness Committee. Randy is preceded in death by his wife Lois Grow Streeton. He is survived by his special friend Marge Knapp, and his son Anthony Streeton. Per Randy’s request, there will be no viewing. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 on September 19, 2018 at Lincoln Memorial. Meet at Gate 2. Memorials are to Connecting Pointe Church of the Nazarene, 1901 S. 70th, Lincoln, NE 68506.
