Sandi (Prucha) Rownd, 77, of Lincoln, peacefully passed into heaven on February 14, 2022.
Sandi was born in Lincoln, to Ignac & Elsa Prucha on October 8, 1944.
She graduated from Crete High School in 1962.
She graduated from St. Elizabeth’s School of Nursing in Lincoln 1965.
She was friends with many of her nursing school classmates her entire life.
While at St. Elizabeth’s, Sandi went on a blind date with John Rownd. On Valentine’s Day 1965, John asked Sandi to marry him. John & Sandi were married on August 20, 1965.
Sandi worked at the VA Hospital in Lincoln for 31 years, and then decided she wasn’t done nursing, and worked for Gastroenterology PC for another 18 years.
Sandi’s greatest joy in life was her grandchildren: Whether miniature golfing & visiting the Lincoln and Omaha Zoos when they were young, to attending all their dance recitals, sporting events & musicals, or just hanging out, the time with her grandchildren was something she always looked forward to. Sandi always said there was nowhere she would rather be than spending time with her grandchildren.
Sandi’s second greatest joy was traveling. Cruising, Vegas and Husker games were favorites. She took many trips over the years with many family members and friends.
Sandi was preceded in death by her parents, Ignac & Elsa Prucha; her brother, Maynard (Buck) & her brother, Bob.
Sandi is survived by her husband, John; children, Kristin (husband Dan) Bunde; Geoff (wife Amy Schainost) Rownd; sister Betty Coffey (of Crete, NE); grandchildren Marcus, Hailey (of Forth Worth, TX) & Jackson Bunde, Emily, Alex & Grant Rownd as well as many beloved nieces & nephews.
Celebration of life will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday February 19 at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 South 14th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska. Please dress casual, per Sandi’s request.
