Sharon was born on March 27, 1944, in Ravenna, Nebraska, to Clarence and Edith (Cushman) Lewis. She grew up in rural Ravenna and the Trumbull area, attending one-room schoolhouse Hall County District #46 through eighth grade before graduating from Hastings High School. She later earned her Bachelor of Science in Sociology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Throughout her life, Sharon was dedicated both to her work and her family. She was employed by UNL, Sun Valley Bowling Lanes and Family Service. When her grandchildren were young, she became self-employed so she could care for them, sharing that special season of life alongside her former husband, Don.
Sharon found great joy in coaching youth bowling, reading and, most of all, spending time with her grandchildren. Her family was her greatest pride.
She was a former member of Beta Sigma Phi, DAR and WIBC. She remained continually active with Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society - causes close to her heart.
Sharon is survived by her daughters, Kandice (David) Pekarek of Lincoln and Kassandra (Peter) Craun of Omaha; her son, Joe (Michele) Selvage of Lincoln; stepchildren Dee (Selvage) Lietka and Mike (Colleen) Selvage, both of Lincoln; grandchildren Brandi (Nick) Meza of Omaha, Christopher (Jacey) Hill of Shickley, Kelli (Justin) Pekarek and Kyle Pekarek of Lincoln; adopted grandson Matthew Heston of Lincoln; and great-grandchildren Sloane and Evelyn Meza of Omaha and Jaxson Hill of Shickley. She is also remembered fondly by honorary family members Judith (Chris) Schroeder and Jim Zak, whose families were like her own throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Edith Lewis; her brothers, Edward Lewis, Clarence Lewis, Jr., and Carl Lewis; and her former husband, Don Selvage.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, Tabitha Hospice or Capital Humane Society.
