With heavy hearts, the family of Shawn Allan Hinrichs announces his passing on August 31, 2024, at the age of 55. Shawn was born on September 10, 1968, at Altus Air Force Base in Oklahoma and moved to Lincoln at the age of two. He graduated from Lincoln Southeast High School and attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he studied Environmental Engineering.
A passionate cyclist, Shawn trained at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs and competed in races across the country in his younger years. He also enjoyed cooking, fly fishing, and tinkering with mechanical things. For the past 14 years, he worked for Nestle Purina.
Shawn is survived by his wife, Tammie Vernon-Hinrichs; daughters, Olivia and Kyra Hinrichs; mother, Nancy Hinrichs; father, Allan Hinrichs; brothers, Marc Hinrichs and his wife Kristie, along with his children, Jordan and Kalli Hinrichs; and brother, Kris Hinrichs and his wife Melissa, along with their children, Lauren and Porter. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Edna Theesen, Richard and Florence Beddeo, Ruth and Arthur Mustacchio, and Harvey Hinrichs.
Shawn's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. The family will hold a graveside memorial service to celebrate Shawn's life at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery on September 13th at 3pm, (meet gate 2), followed by a celebration of life at Rosie's.
