Sophie was married to Albert Baker on September 7, 1962 in McCook, Nebraska. They were married for 57 years. From this union, three children were born: Cynthia, Walter, and Tina. She retired from Shoemaker's Truck Stop after 29 years. Sophie enjoyed camping as a family, putting together puzzles, watching birds out of her window, and making friends with everyone she met. She was also an avid Husker fan, with volleyball being a favorite to watch.
She is survived by her children, Cynthia (James) Bliss, Walter (Shelley) Baker, Tina Baker (friend, Steven Bade); grandchildren, James Bliss, Melissa (Nathan) Luhr, Austin Baker (significant other, Audrey Van Soelen), and Mason Baker; great-grandchildren, Wesley and Amelia Luhr, Lucy and Finley Bliss; brother, Carl Kaschke; along with nieces, nephews, and cherished loved ones. She is preceded in death by her parents; and beloved husband, Albert.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, May 29, 2025 at 10:00AM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S. 14th St., Lincoln, NE 68512. Memorials are in the care of the family for future designation.
