Starr J Moore, 72, of Dorchester peacefully passed into heaven while surrounded by family on March 11, 2021. Born June 26, 1948 in Glendale, West Virginia to Herman and Virginia (Harling) Moore. Her family moved to Nebraska when she was young. At the age of 16 she moved to Anchorage Alaska, then spent a couple years in Lansdale Pennsylvania before returning to Nebraska where she lived for the remainder of her life. Starr loved having three brothers; Herb Moore, Jim Moore, and Mike Inderlied. They were some of her best friends, and she adored their wives and children.
One of Starr’s favorite jobs was opening Virgie’s Kountry Kitchen in Dorchester with her Mom. Another career that she loved was working at Region IV, caring for people that were special to her and serving alongside coworkers who became dear friends. In the last few years, however, it seemed like she might have missed her calling. With her strong convictions and political opinions, we think she could have been a formidable politician.
The biggest joy and proudest achievement in Starr’s life were her three sons; Jeff, Brian, and Jason. Her boys will tell you that she was, without a shadow of a doubt, the very best mother they could have ever wished for, even through the years when life dealt her a difficult hand. She did whatever it took to ensure that her boys were cared for and had what they needed. Starr was a woman who fought for everything she got in life, and she got everything she fought for. She loved her family deeply, with a fierce loyalty, and could not have been more proud of her boys, and their families. Some of the words they’ve used to describe her include lioness, fighter, survivor, saint, overcomer, strong, selfless, kind hearted, and tenacious.
Starr cherished the time she spent with her family and friends. She loved camping and being outdoors, cheering for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, playing cards, watching her grandkids in activities, her dogs Gizzy and Cooper, and enjoying a cup of coffee or Colorado Bulldog with loved ones.
Her loving family includes son Jeff Stilwagon (Lisa Rohrer), son Brian (Jessi) Stilwagon, and son Jason Stilwagon. Brother Jim (June) Moore, and brother Mike (Brenda) Inderlied. Grandchildren Chelsea (Matt) Smith, Brandon Stilwagon (Haley Tyan), Tyler Stilwagon, Hunter Stilwagon, Carter Stilwagon, Colbi Stilwagon, Logan Bundy and Abbie Bundy. Great Grandchildren Boone and Annie Smith, Emersen and Leightyn. Numerous nieces and nephews, and countless friends, including her very special friend Mary Drake.
Starr was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, Brother Herb Moore, Granddaughter Elizabeth Stilwagon, and the two men she loved; Dennis Stilwagon and Elvis Presley.
There will be an Open House Celebration of Life on Friday, March 19th beginning at 6:00 pm at the Fire Hall in Dorchester.
