Wayne L. Hitz was born December 13, 1933 to Elden B. and Edith T. (Graff) Hitz in Lincoln. NE. He Attended Lincoln Public Schools and graduated from Lincoln High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and Reserves from 1955 to 1961.
Majority of his career, he was a printer at the Lincoln Journal Star and prior to his retirement, he started a service company with his best friend.
Wayne enjoyed being a grandparent later in his life because it allowed him to spend a significant amount of time with his grandkids. He stayed active well into his early 80's by going on hikes, sledding, and throwing the football with his grandkids. He enjoyed the sprint car races weekly at Eagle Raceway. He was an avid Husker Football fan. He loved military aviation, classic cars and could "fix" anything. His greatest joy was his family.
Wayne is survived by his daughter, Amy (Neal) Cole and son, Brian (Audra) Hitz of Lincoln. His grandchildren include Lane and Jack Cole and Hadley and Oliver Hitz. He is also survived by his brother Roger Hitz of Kansas City. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Richard "Dick" Hitz and Marvin "Bud" Hitz. The family requests casual attire
